The Karnataka government has High titanium iron Suppliers deferred the auction of the Donimalai iron ore mine."The government of Karnataka has identified one iron ore mine for electronic auction for grant of mining lease and accordingly NIT (Notice Inviting Tender) was issued dated August 20, 2019, on MSTC website for Donimalai Mine (earlier held by NMDC) ML no 2396," according to a notice by the state government."The schedule of the auction process for the said mine is hereby deferred until further notice," it added."

The said Stay Order would prohibit the Government of Karnataka to take any further action regarding mining lease or initiate auction process of Donimalai mine," NMDC recently said in a statement.However, the High Court of Karnataka last month set aside the governments move.Earlier, the firm was in a legal battle with the state government over the issue of imposition of 80 per cent premium on the sale price of the iron ore extracted from the Donimalai mines..The state had earlier withdrawn the extension of the mining lease granted to NMDC for the mine in November 2018 for a 20-year period.The development comes soon after the Centres Mines Tribunal kept in abeyance the cancellation of mining lease of the block by the state government extended to NMDC Ltd.Challenging the decision, the public sector undertaking moved the Tribunal, which heard the petition on August 21 and stayed the order

The policy makes it mandatory to give preference to domestically manufactured iron and steel products (DMI&SP) in government procurement. It seeks to boost domestic steel consumption and ensure high quality steel production and create a technologically advanced and globally competitive steel industry.In case any manufacturer is aggrieved, a grievance redressal committee set up under the steel ministry will dispose of the complaint in four weeks."With the rollout of the National Steel Policy 2017, it is envisaged that the industry will be steered in creating an environment for promoting domestic steel and thereby ensuring a scenario where High titanium iron Suppliers production meets the anticipated pace of growth in consumption through a technologically advanced and globally competitive steel industry," it said..While implementing the policy, it puts trust in each domestic manufacturer that provides self-certification to the procuring government agency declaring that the products are domestically manufactured in terms of the value addition prescribed."The Cabinet.It will not normally be the responsibility of procuring agency to verify the correctness of the claim.

As per the policy, adoption of energy efficient technologies in the MSME steel sector will beencouraged to improve overall productivity and reduce energy intensity."The DMI&SP policy provides a minimum value addition of 15 per cent in notified steel products which are covered under preferential procurement.The policy is designed to promote growth and development of the domestic steel Industry and reduce the inclination to use low quality, low cost imported steel in government-funded projects. The policy is applicable to all government tenders where price bid is yet to be opened.The potential of the MSME steel sector has been recognised, too. It shall be the responsibility of every governmentagency to ensure implementation of the policy.The NSP enshrines a long-term vision to give impetus to the steel sector.The ministry will also ensure availability of raw materials like iron ore, coking coal and non-coking coal, natural gas etc at competitive rates."The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval to the National Steel Policy (NSP) 2017," the steel ministry said in a statement. "I am confident that the policy will make the Indian steel sector more vibrant and competitive, and facilitate taking the steel industry to new heights of success," the minister added.The policy projects crude steel capacity of 300 mt, production of 255 mt and robust finished steel per capita consumption of 158 kg by 2030-31, as against the current use of 61 kg... The initiative is aimed at spearheading R&D of national importance in the iron and steel sector utilisingtripartite synergy among the industry, national R&D laboratories and academic institutes.R&D in the sector will take spotlight through establishment of the Steel Research and Technology Mission of India (SRTMI).
